Adversity

“Adversity isn’t the end, it’s part of the journey. Growth happens when you allow yourself to go through the process, not around it. Every challenge is shaping you, strengthening you and preparing you for what’s next. Don’t rush it. Don’t resist it. Trust that God is working all things for your good.”

I’ve learned that adversity is a part of life but how you handle it makes all the difference. It’s easy (sometimes) to take “shortcuts” rather than wait on the Lord as He sees you through the process. I’ve developed spiritual awareness, a deeper and strengthened relationship with God, resilience and patience that was refined through the hard times, and the self-discipline/self-control needed to sustain or navigate through the unknown. I’ve learned to lay down my desires and my wants in exchange for His desires and His wants for my life. Most importantly, adversity has allowed me be a living testimony for others so that I can share the goodness of Christ. I’ve learned not to rush the process but to grow from it. To embrace it and whenever I am upset, disappointed, not satisfied, confused or frustrated I know to go to the word that settles those feelings and put it all back to perspective.
